Vice-president of NXP Semiconductor Company Johannes Rijns paid a visit to MIET
The visit was paid within the framework of NXP university program in which MIET has been participating since 2007.
Our university has already been visited by NXP and ARM representatives, who held a technical seminar and gave a lecture to the 4th year students of the Computer Science and Telecommunications department.
In the course of his visit Mr. Rijns attended Computer Engineering chair, where laboratory researches concerning the study of ARM microcontrollers from LPC 2000 (NXP) family are held in such courses as “The organization of computing devices, systems and nets” and “Microprocessors and personal computing devices”. Major commercial projects made by the graduates of CE chair and by the employees of Computing facilities and management system research institute were introduced to Johannes Rijns as well.
After the meeting with MIET rector Prof. Yuri Chaplygin, where the further cooperation between the university and NXP was discussed, Johannes Rijns visited training centers of Cadence and Synopsys companies. Later he delivered a lecture concerning the perspective directions of the NXP researches to the 4th year students of the Computer Science and Telecommunications department.
When the lecture was over the NXP vice-president announced the start of the contest between the students of the universities participating in the NXP university program. The task of the contest is to make the best working-out using microcontrollers with NXP Cortex-M3 nucleus (LCP 17xx series). The contest started throughout Russia directly in the moment of it’s announcement at MIET. The summing-up is planned out to be on May, 28.
