More than 300 foreign students from 30 different countries study at MIET. A great number of them are citizens of The Union of Myanmar studying at MIET under the agreement signed by heads of both states. MIET traditionally enrolls many students from the former Soviet Republics: Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Estonia and others.
MIET cooperates with advanced universities of Europe, Asia and the USA, takes part in exchange programs for students, post-graduates and tutors.
Programs of elite professional training are implemented at MIET in collaboration with the world leading companies in the field of electronic technologies.
One of the most promising international centers at MIET is Device and System Design Institute MIET-Cadence opened in 2002. It trains highly qualified professionals competent in analog and mixed signal microsystem design as well as System-on-Chip. Cadence Design Systems provided 20 Sun workstations, a server and a full version of its newest software for complete cycle ULSI design with 0.13 micron process. October 2006 saw the launch of a new educational program at MIET in collaboration with Synopsys, a world leader in CAD systems and developing software instruments for IC design. Synopsys supports MIET financially in setting up and conducting the courses, supplies dozens millions dollars worth of software licenses, puts up money for hardware for the center, and provides technical support and tutor training for the university.ation with a number of foreign leaders in hi-tech: Microsoft, cisco Systems, Cadence, Synopsys, Freescale Semiconductor, Mentor Graphics, PTC Software and Services and others.
Under the agreement between MIET and Mentor Graphics the center for training professionals in CAD was opened in 2005. It provides Specialist and Master's degrees in CAD. Mentor Graphics took up a part of the expenses connected with the teaching process. In addition to providing its own CAD tools, the company supplied MIET with 12 workstations, a server, additional backup system, and a package of networking hardware for local computing network.
