Preparatory Course

Preparatory Course

The Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens is designed to prepare students for professional educational programs taught in Russian. The curriculum focuses on engineering and technical subjects (Russian language, mathematics, physics, and computer science).

In the first semester, international students study only Russian from a beginner level. In the second semester, they add physics, mathematics, and computer science, all taught in Russian.

The total volume of the additional general education program is 2376 academic hours (66 credit units). The volume of classroom studies is determined by the curriculum and amounts to 1080 academic hours.

If a foreign citizen already has a basic knowledge of Russian, they can be accepted into the current groups starting in the second semester, subject to availability. The semester-long general education program (33 credits) has been running since February of this year. This program allows foreign citizens with a basic knowledge of the subjects to prepare for university entrance and improve their language skills.

Upon successful completion, the foreign student is issued a “Certificate” of completion of the preparatory department for foreign citizens.
