MIET now has a new institute – the Institute of Integrated Electronics

On May 1st, the Institute of Integrated Electronics was created within the university, uniting the Chair of Integrated Electronics and Microsystems, the Chair of Design and Construction of Integrated Circuit, and the Chair of Quantum Physics and Nanoelectronics. Vladimir Losev, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, was appointed head of the Institute.

The Institute's mission is to create an open environment for personal, creative and professional growth of talented researchers and engineers in the field of integrated electronics. This environment is based on the principle of involving students in project activities under the guidance of leading scientists and designers.

The strategic goal of the Institute is to create and develop a global, open and dynamic platform for the development of talents, generation and transfer of knowledge, to foster technology and innovation in order to ensure technological independence of Russian Federation in the field of microelectronics. In addition, the Institute will teach students the ability to combine scientific and practical approach in order to solve problems in their professional fields.

Vladimir Losev said: "The establishment of the Institute will allow us to concentrate the efforts aimed at training personnel and conducting breakthrough research in such multidisciplinary and science-intensive area as integrated electronics. At the current stage of technological development, it includes various fields of science and technology: from integrated device technology and photonics down to quantum computers and CAD tools.

The joint efforts of the divisions, which became part of the Institute, will allow our university to become a market leader in providing educational, scientific, technical, and technological services in the field of integrated electronics."
