MIET's achievements were presented to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia
On December 6, the head of the laboratory "Materials and Devices of Active Photonics" Petr Lazarenko presented the scientific achievements of the MIET youth laboratories at the International Russia Expo in VDNH's Pavilion No. 57. The university's stand was included in the interactive exposition of the Ministry of Education and Science "Decade of Science and Technology". One of the exhibition visitors was Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education.
Petr Lazarenko told the Minister about the results of the work of his research team, including developments in the field of integrated photonics and the application of research results on practice.
The youth laboratory "Materials and devices of active photonics" exhibited the following:
- new phase-changing materials developed as part of the laboratory's joint work with academic institutions and universities;
- the base elements of integrated photonics, created together with the industrial partner Scientific-Manufacturing Complex "Technological Centre";
- chalcogenide multicomponent materials for magnetron sputtering, developed and studied in cooperation with "ADV-Engineering";
- tunable diffraction elements recorded on Russian laser equipment of the partner enterprise "Lazery I Apparatura", together with other experimental samples.
In addition, the visitors can take a look at the developments of the youth laboratories "Energy-efficient systems on a chip for peripheral computing" and "Advanced technologies for the packaging and production of 3D microsystems":
- prototype of a specialized system on a chip based on the RISC-V architecture for short-range radars;
- an experimental sample of a multilevel 3D microsystem with end-to-end switching.
The youth laboratories have been operating on the basis of the National Research University MIET since 2022 as part of the national project "Science and Universities". They employ specialists from among students and postgraduates, research engineers, researchers from industry departments and enterprises. For example, the staff of the youth laboratory "Materials and Devices of Active Photonics" are 24 people, including 5 candidates of sciences, 5 graduate students, 6 students, 5 employees from high-tech enterprises and 3 foreigners.
The Russia Expo will continue until April 12, 2024.
