FunChaPTA-1 International Conference
From June 23 to 27, the International Conference "Functional Chalcogenides: Physics, Technology and Applications" (FunChaPTA-1), dedicated to chalcogenides, was held in MIET and Special Economic Zone Technopolis Moscow. The event featured more than 100 reports in Russian and English from representatives of leading research organizations in Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Belarus, Switzerland and India.
The first report called "All-Chalcogenide Nanoelectronics: Hype & Hope" was presented by Alexander Kolobov, Director of the Institute of Physics of Herzen University. After that, he shared his impressions about the importance of the conference: "Chalcogenides are a unique class of materials that are used in a wide variety of technical fields. However, scientists and manufacturers focus exclusively on working with a certain type of materials – chalcogenide glasses, phase-shifting materials, topological insulators, despite the fact that these materials are quite close and may have both a common physics and a common application. FunChaPTA is the first conference that attempts to bring together specialists working with different chalcogenide materials, establish contacts and find common ground."
Within the framework of FunChaPTA-1, scientists also got acquainted with MIET laboratories and visited the leading enterprises of Zelenograd, including Micron, ESTO, Lasers and Equipment and residents of the SEZ Technopolis Moscow. In addition to scientific reports, there was a cultural program that included a tour of the MIET architectural complex and Zelenograd, as well as a visit to the "Russia" International Exhibition and Forum.
