MIET signed the agreement to establish Russian-Chinese laboratory for chalcogenide semiconductors
On June 29, 2026 a landmark event took place in the field of international scientific and educational cooperation. The National Research University of Electronic Technology (MIET) and East China Normal University (ECNU) signed an agreement on the joint establishment of an international joint laboratory – the "Russian-Chinese Joint Laboratory of Chalcogenide Semiconductor Materials and Devices".
Chalcogenide semiconductor materials are one of the most promising areas in modern materials science and optoelectronics. The creation of the joint laboratory based at the universities will make it possible to combine the scientific potential of both parties for conducting fundamental and applied research in this field.
In addition to the agreement on the establishment of the International Joint Laboratory, MIET and ECNU signed an agreement on academic mobility, which opens up new opportunities for students and faculty of both universities, including the organization of regular academic exchanges between the universities.
The establishment of the joint laboratory and the development of academic exchanges are only the beginning of a long‑term partnership. In the future the parties plan to expand joint research in advanced semiconductor materials, to involve both experienced and young scientists and to develop joint educational programmes.
