MIEM HSE and MIET agree on scientific cooperation
On August 26, the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE) and the National Research University of Electronic Technology (MIET) signed a cooperation agreement. Together, they plan to conduct joint fundamental research in physics, new materials and electronics, combining computational and experimental approaches; carry out joint research and development projects; and prepare applications for Russian and international research grants.
On the MIEM HSE side, the cooperation involves the Center for Quantum Metamaterials (headed by Alexey Vagov), the International Laboratory for Supercomputer Atomistic Modeling and Multiscale Analysis (headed by Grigory Smirnov), and the Laboratory of Mathematical Methods in Natural Sciences (headed by Vladimir Danilov). These research units specialise in high‑performance computer modelling of physical processes, materials and systems based on them.
On the MIET side, the Institute of Advanced Materials and Technologies, led by Director Sergey Dubkov, is the key participant. The institute will focus on experimental research, synthesis of new materials and the development of advanced devices. The first steps of the MIET–MIEM collaboration will target physicochemical phenomena in nanomaterials and nanostructures essential for sensor devices, nanoelectronics, nanophotonics, and energy conversion and storage.
The collaboration between MIEM and MIET teams began way before the official signing. The agreement now provides a framework for further expansion, new projects and long‑term scientific cooperation. MIEM Director Dmitry Kovalenko signed the agreement on behalf of MIEM, and MIET Vice‑Rector for Research Alexey Dronov signed on behalf of MIET.

Today, the industry faces new, even more complex challenges. By joining forces, our two specialised institutes — each having accumulated unique experience in education and research, established traditions and a culture of conducting experiments, as well as substantial material and intellectual resources, with the help of our industrial partners that is worth mentioning — we will enable our scientists, researchers, and students to tackle professional tasks on a new level".
Alexey Dronov, Vice‑Rector for Research at MIET: "Collaboration with MIEM will significantly expand our research portfolio and shorten the time needed to achieve scientific results through the application of modern digital methods of materials science.
