MIET Delegation took part in the International Scientific School of Biomedical Engineering in Germany

From October until 10th till October 17th a group of postgraduate students and students from the Chair of Biomedical Systems, the head of the Chair S.V. Selishchev, professor S.A.Tereshchenko and senior research assistant A.A.Danilov took an active part in the work of the Scientific School’s First workshop on Biomedical Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander University (Erlangen, Germany). The delegation was headed by MIET Vice-rector for International Affairs and IT S.V. Umnyashkin.

The school participants presented the results of their scientific work in reports. In particular, postgraduate student Nikolay Bazaev spoke about innovations in hemodialysis, student Elena Nasonova talked about visualization of elastic properties of a fabric by means of ultrasound. S.V.Selishchev's report dealt with the creation of artificial organs.

During the event many interesting reports were given by postgraduate students and professors of Friedrich-Alexander University. The Russian guests visited the laboratories and the departments of the university and were able to communicate with colleagues successfully.

In the timeframe of the school the German side organized a rich excursion program for the representatives of MIET. With particular interest the delegation visited the largest branch of Siemens, with a biomedical engineering production focus, located in Erlangen. The Russian guests visited the exhibition centre at the company’s factory, where they were told about the history of the firm and saw demonstrations of the basic products of Siemens. At the factory MIET workers were shown all stages of production of magnetic resonance tomography machine. MIET cooperates with Siemens closely and in 2010 Vice-President of Siemens Russia LLC. Dr. Martin Gitsels became an honored professor of our university.

In the course of negotiations with colleagues from Friedrich-Alexander University a range of agreements important for MIET in the expansion of cooperation were reached. Earlier representatives of the German university repeatedly visited MIET, where they participated in the Moscow-Bavarian Joint Advanced Student School (MB-JASS) and Russian-Bavarian Conference on Bio-Medical Engineering.
