Young scientists from MIET took part in an international conference in Cambridge
A group of scientists and postgraduates from the Research and Educational Centre «Probe microscopy and Nanotechnology» (REC PM&N MIET) took part in NT11 International Conference on the Science and Application of Nanotubes. This year it was held in the city of Cambridge, UK. Scientists from more than 30 countries including England, Germany, France, China, Korea, Japan, Italy, USA, Mexico, Estonia, Finnland, Australia and other countries spoke at the Conference. Scientists from MIET made reports in the section devoted to biocompatibility of nanomaterials, medicine and toxicology. Poster report of MIET representatives was devoted to works in the sphere of creating molecular transistors, graphene and sensors on the basis of carbon nanotubes.
Cultural programme, offered by the organization committee, included a trip in gondolas on the river Kem as well as a visit to the aviation museum and a landing area in Dukesfort. There especially for the participants of the conference a famous spitfire soared into the cloudy sky above Cambridge, and its pilot masterfully performed some aerobatic maneuvers. After the excursion programme, the guests were invited to have a dinner under a wing of a Concord where the participants of the conference managed to have a casual dinner with the leading world scientists. Among them was Konstantin Novoselov, Nobel Laureate of 2010 in physics.
