Scientific seminar on genomics was held in MIET
May 23 MIET hosted a scientific seminar on a new scientific direction – genomics. Philipp Kapranov, St. Laurent Institute (USA) senior scientific associate, made a presentation on "Genomic diagnosis - the future of health care." Professor Yuri A. Chaplygin the corresponding member of the RAS and the rector of MIET, was the head of the scientific seminar. Philipp Kapranov spoke about the urgent problems of modern medicine – growth of chronic diseases. The study of the human genome and recognition of the signals allows predicting the probability of occurrence of a disease in humans. The speaker noted that the existing study of human genome does not satisfy all the needs of scientists.
At the end of the seminar Mr. Kapranov invited MIET scientists to develop genomic research for more accurate results.
