MIET and microelectronics cluster in Grenoble jointly make electronics for space

April 8, Mr. Eric Paul, Mayor of Grenoble, and Oleg Fomichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, started the joint project in the field of space research.

In December 2013 both microelectronics clusters signed a memorandum of understanding. Thus the Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble) and National Research University "MIET" set a project to create and launch a "student" Russian-French satellite for carrying out a number of scientific experiments in near-earth region.

Roscosmos is planning to use a new generation of electronic components, so this project is a concrete step towards the realization of this plan.

According to Alexander Basayev, the first deputy director of MIET "Technology Center", international cooperation is the most important format of training students and young professionals. In addition to the scientific value, the project contributes to the output of Russian space hardware and microchips to the world markets".
