MIET students won medals at the International Student and Youth Sports Festival ‘Moscow Games 2014'

On September 5, Moscow hosted the closing ceremony of the first International Student and Youth Sports Festival ‘Moscow Games 2014'. The event took place in Druzhba multipurpose sports facility (Luzhniki) and united students from Russia, Senegal, Algeria, Romania, Northern Cyprus, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Macedonia.

1500 sportsmen from 9 countries participated in the Festival. During 3 days there were competitions in 9 kinds of sport: basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, rugby, soccer, table tennis, beach volleyball, tennis and swimming.

MIET students won the beach volleyball tournament among women teams and took the second prize in classical volleyball.

MIET team also won silver medals in swimming, students from MAMI became the champions, and MAI team got the bronze award. Besides Russian students, students from Northern Cyprus and Romania also participated in the swimming competitions.

According to the foreign participants, the Moscow Festival has harmoniously blended into the system of such tournaments held in Europe. Moscow has become one of the centers of the European University Sports. In 2015 the International Student and Youth Sports Festival ‘Moscow Games' will take place in Moscow again.
