Computer Science and Telecommunications department student took the prize in the International Olympiad “IT-Planet”

“IT-Planet” is one of the biggest competitions in the IT area established in Russia, which is aimed to draw together business and educational institutions in Russia and the CIS countries to improve the quality of IT education.

The final has hosted 300 participants from 4 countries, who successfully made theoretical and practical tasks in information technology of the qualifying round last academic year.

The final of the VIII International Olympiad in Information Technology “IT-Planet 2014/15” was held on 22-25 May at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University named after Peter the Great. According to the results of the final competition, 48 winners were awarded. They showed the best results in 16 contests.

Among the winners there was MIET student Yaroslav Shmelev (student of Information Protection Chair), who took third place in the “Linux Administering”.
