Students of Computer Science and Telecommunications Department became awardees of the All-Russian Math Olympiad
From 17 to 19 April 2016 the final stage of the All-Russian Math Olympiad for students was held on the basis of North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk. 83 students took part in the intellectual contest presenting teams from Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Moscow, Saratov, Stavropol, Tomsk, Yakutsk. Students from technical unisversities and Departements of Mechanics and Mathematics of classical universities participated in the Olympiad.

Participants were encouraged to solve 7 problems from different branches of mathematics: mathematical analysis, algebra, probability theory, analytical geometry, complex variable theory within 4 hours. Students worked individually. The results of every team were based on score of its three best participants.

The MIET team was presented by the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications students - Andrei Beliakov, Georgii Zhulikov and Ilia Tsyganov. The head of the team, the associate professor Tatiana V. Sokolova, joined the competition jury.

Andrei Beliakov won second place. Based on the results of individual performance Andrei was awarded with first place diploma, Ilia Tsyganov - second place diploma, Georgii Zhulikov - third place diploma. Based on the results of team performance MIET team was awarded with first place diploma.

Apart from the All-Russian Math Olympiad for students MIET students took part in Programming Olympiad, where Ilia Tsyganov won third place.
