On April 21-23, Southern Federal University in Taganrog hosted the final round of one of the leading Russian Olympiads for IT professionals, students and schoolchildren from Russia and other countries - the Open Championship of the South of Russia in sports programming - the XI Olympiad SFU "ContestSFedU-2017".

The open championship included two rounds:
The first round - qualifying, held remotely;
The second round - the main one, which took place on April 21-23 in SFedU.

MIET was represented by four teams of students, consisting of both undergraduate and graduate students. The best result was shown by the team consisting of T. Muratshin, I. Zheglov and D. Matrokhin - students of the "Software Engineering".

In MIET there is an olympiad programming club, which conducts 2-3 hours of training with the analysis of tasks once a week. Club members successfully perform not only at the MIET Olympiads but also at the olympiads of other universities. Anyone who is interested in programming and likes to solve non-standard and interesting problems can join a club.
