MIET extended cooperation agreement with Xidian University
Xidian University is one of the key national universities of the People’s Republic of China, it prepares the best engineers for the country, and is also a longtime MIET partner. The first cooperation agreement between the two universities was signed in 1992. This autumn the agreement was extended at the international forum of university rectors "One Belt and One Road Initiative".
The event was attended by the heads of 172 universities from Russia, the USA, Belarus, Bulgaria, Egypt, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, France and other countries. MIET was represented by the Vice-rector for International Affairs and Youth Relations, D.G. Kovalenko, who acted as a moderator of one of the sections of the forum.
Our university is aimed at fruitful cooperation with the Chinese partner. Currently the Department of Telecommunications of MIET is negotiating with the representatives of Xidian University about cooperation in the field of education and research, as well as the development of a program of double diplomas. This July two MIET students visited the Chinese university as the participants of the Summer School dedicated to information and computer technology. The program included a course of lectures in English from the leading Chinese scientists and guest professors from the USA, as well as practical classes and interesting excursions to the scientific, industrial and cultural sites.
It should be noted that today Xidian takes the 12th place in the list of the best world universities in the field of computer science.
