The Institute of Psychology created in MIET
On December 1, the Institute of Psychology was established in the university. Evgenia Gorchakova, Candidate of Economic Sciences, became the director of the new department.
The Institute of Psychology will implement bachelor's and master's degree educational programs for training personnel in the field of psychological and psychological-pedagogical sciences. MIET's psychological service will also be included in the Institute.
Evgenia Gorchakova commented on the formation of the new Institute: "The need for the Institute of Psychology is dictated by an acute shortage of specialists in this field. Over the past three years, the familiar worldview has changed dramatically, and humanity has been presented with the challenges it had not encountered before. We are on the verge of new standards in medicine, education, psychology and all other sciences directly related to supporting human life. Today, more than ever, there's a demand for specialties that help people adapt to the rapidly changing conditions of the world with minimal harm to the psyche and health, with as little as possible cost of personal resources."
The Institute of Psychology will implement the following areas of training in Russian:
"Psychological and pedagogical education"
Bachelor's degree – 03.44.02 "Engineering pedagogy"
Master's degree – 04.04.02 "Planning and psychological and pedagogical support of digital educational ecosystems"
"Psychology"
Bachelor's degree – 03.37.01 "Organizational psychology"
Master's degree – 04.37.01 "Psychology of personnel management (profiling)"
Master's degree programs will use online learning technologies, so students can combine studying with work.
"In the new economy, which is the knowledge economy, there is a clear demand for professionals in the field of interpersonal and intergroup interactions both within workplaces and in the external environment. That is why specialists in the field of organizational psychology are in demand in the labor market," Evgenia Gorchakova added.
"Our graduates in the field of Engineering Pedagogy will find a career start in engineering classes, IT classes and technoparks as part of their education program."
Graduates of master's programs will acquire skills that help present developments in the field of digital education, as well as modify and transform the existing ones and develop new digital products for the educational process. They will be able to provide psychological counseling, evaluate mental processes, properties and conditions of labor groups and employees, as well as apply digital technologies to the work of a profiler.
The Institute's research will be carried out on the basis of the scientific research laboratory of experimental psychology created within.
The University's psychological service will be expanded by creating psychological student consultations provided by the Institute of Psychology. Students' educational and work practice will be organized there. For this purpose, mentoring systems and psychological supervision for students are being developed.
Graduates of the MIET's Institute of Psychology will be in demand at all levels of education – from schools to universities, in all high-tech enterprises of Russia and abroad, in the structure of additional education and psychological centers for helping citizens.
