Eco Festival in MIET
"VuzEkoFest" is a project that annually holds events dedicated to the topics of sustainable development in universities in Russia and the CIS. The mission of the project is to improve the environment by introducing the concept of green universities and integrating the principles of sustainable development into universities, cities and countries.
From April 15 to 22, the MIET Eco Movement held a series of events dedicated to the festival.
200 students, teachers and members of staff took part in the assembly of recyclables, which took place on April 15. The waste paper was handed over to the Uschool project, which includes charity events to collect waste paper. The rest of the recyclables were sent to special containers and eco-centers.
Assembly results:
• Hard plastic – 3.5 kg
• Plastic bottles – 2 kg
• Soft plastic – 0.905 kg
• Rare fractions (filters, checks, etc.) – 3.5 kg
• CD, DVD discs – 3 kg
• Bottle caps – 11 kg
• Batteries – 7,265 kg
• Waste paper – 1890 kg
On April 20, a collection of old electronic equipment "ElektroVesna" was held, which was attended by more than 150 people.
The results:
• Broken electronics – 363 kg
• Working electronics – 78 kg
• Batteries – 40,6 kg
• Waste paper – 1890 kg
The final event was the "Freemarket Day", where students and teachers brought old things and clothes and indoor plants for exchange. Ecologists were telling the participants about responsible food consumption. More than 100 people took part.
