Sputnik is displayed at the Russia Expo
A portable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) "Sputnik", developed at the Institute of Biomedical Systems together with Academician V.I.Shumakov Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs became part of the the exposition "Enlightenment/The Decade of Science and Technology", which united the most important achievements of the country.
The research team successfully implemented "Sputnik" into Russia's clinical practice. It is twice as cheap as foreign counterparts, while not inferior in terms of quality and reliability. This is the second version of "Sputnik" LVAD, improved by scientists of the BMS Institute, created with the aim to optimize hemocompatibility and improve the energy efficiency, as well as reduce the invasiveness and increase the versatility of implantable components to expand the possibility of using it in patients with various body weight and size parameters.
Visitors can see "Sputnik" and other technological achievements at Russia Expo until April 12 at the VDNH's Pavilion №57.
